Drums have come a long way since the old jokes about
three musicians and a drummer. Not only have drums become the center
of entire musical genres such as hip-hop, the advent of sampling
and looping has thrust the drummer to the forefront of music technology.
Yes, there’s an awful lot to learn for the modern drummer.
And we’re not even talking paradiddles yet.
The DTXPLORER is feature-packed for both students and teachers.
The lack of acoustic sound speaks for itself. Practice on an electronic
kit like this can be an activity limited to your ears and brains,
not half the neighborhood’s.
The DTXPLORER's Groove Check feature compares your timing
with the clock used for song or metronome playback and lets you know
how accurate you are. Along with timing, the DTXPLORER gives you
a graphic display of trigger levels so you can see how uniform your
playing is. A great new feature in the DTXPLORER is that this can
be set for the kit as a whole or just for one pad or trigger.

If you want to get really strict, the Rhythm
Gate can be set
to produce sound only when your playing falls inside one of the three
levels of timing accuracy. A surefire way of polishing your timing
chops!
The DTXPLORER is also equipped with
a high performance metronome that lets you create complex rhythms
beyond the basic 4/4 (13/8, 5/4, 11/4, no problem).
If you are computer-savvy, the DTXPLORER lets you
interface to a computer digital audio workstation (DAW) or sequencer.
And if you want
to record into your
DAW, you can access General MIDI sounds and record direct
from the pads.
No need for soundproofed rooms, the DTXPLORER gives you
total access to cutting edge sounds and facilities via the comfort
of a pair of headphones.
