If you want to get really strict, the Rhythm Gate can be set to produce sound only when your playing falls inside one of the three levels of timing accuracy. A surefire way of polishing your timing chops!

The DTXPLORER is also equipped with a high performance metronome that lets you create complex rhythms beyond the basic 4/4 (13/8, 5/4, 11/4, no problem).

If you are computer-savvy, the DTXPLORER lets you interface to a computer digital audio workstation (DAW) or sequencer. And if you want to record into your DAW, you can access General MIDI sounds and record direct from the pads.
