Live gigs are not easy for anyone. For drummers you can add in more set-up time, more tear-down time, more sound-checking, and way more physical energy being expended during the performance of course.

The DTXPRESS IV won’t render your gig on a par with a flute player but it’ll certainly streamline the process, reduce the overall weight and bulk of your equipment, and tame the outer reaches of sonic issues all without compromising the basic feel and response of your instrument.

For a start the pads feel great. They have a natural rebound and great dynamic response. Feel is of course very much related to sound, and the newly sampled kits (all the top Yamaha acoustic kits and dozens more) are fresh, lively, and musical.

The standard kit has three toms, a three-zone snare, two full-size, three-zone round cymbal pads, a hi-hat pad, kick tower and a hi hat controller. When you want to expand, you can split the tom and kick inputs to add more pads. The DTXPRESS IV Special adds another cymbal, a separate hit-hat and stand, and double beater on the kick – things definitely to consider if you arte primarily a live player.

Whichever you choose, you’ll be making your on-stage life a lot easier – and with a lot more sonic flexibility – with the DTXPRESS IV.
