Of course you are an important component in the mix,
but church sound systems – and indeed the spaces themselves – are
acoustically slanted to the human voice, the message. And that’s
how it should be.
But this can pose problems for the musician trying to deliver a
powerful, but not overpowering, message of their own through
the gift of music.
In church, your drum sound needs to be both controllable and inspirational.
The DTXTREME IIS gives you a superb level of control. As an electronic
kit, there is little or no acoustic noise coming off the pads and
a completely tailorable level of both individual pads and the overall
kit (using either the stereo line outs of the six individual outputs,
depending upon the scale and requirements of the church).
Playing in church doesn’t only require top quality drum sounds;
you may need to punctuate using orchestral percussion (timps, bells,
etc.). The DTXTREME IIS has 2171 sounds at its disposal, plus the power
of sampling lets you call up custom sounds from SmartMedia™ card
should this be needed. |
You do not need long (unannounced or accidental) pauses during
a church ceremony. Speed and seamless transitions from one piece
of music to another are vital. Use the Chain feature to set up an
entire chain of patch/kit changes that you can call up using a footswitch.
Finally, let’s talk about space. Unless you are resident in
a cathedral, chances are the band will be a little pushed for space.
The last thing anyone needs is a mass of heavy hardware to have to
keep moving around—or storing. The DTXTREME IIS can be both
assembled and broken down in a few minutes, or simply picked up en
masse and stored in an adjoining room or storage area.
